Many Biloxi Casinos are bringing in top notch entertainment. This is great for the growth of Biloxi!
Though this week, from an entertainment standpoint, is a bit quite, consider it a breather. The future, both far and near, may take your breath away.
There’s a host of musical and, in some cases, comedy acts heading our direction. Some are a little impressive, others are stellar. We report, you decide.
This one’s a doozy. Willie Nelson, Merle Haggard and Ray Price perform 7:30 p.m. Aug. 19, as part of their Last of the Breed tour. The most expensive seats ($59) have already sold out, but $39 and $49 (plus tax and service charge) seats are still available. For more info, call the Coliseum box office at (228) 594-3707 or 594-3708.
At the Beau Rivage, Carrot Top takes the stage with his zany comedy act, also on Aug. 19, followed five days later by the legendary B.B. King, who performs 8 p.m. Aug. 24. (Look for an upcoming interview with Carrot Top here in Marquee). It will be particularly great to see Mr. King, who participated in a gala 80th birthday celebration here in South Mississippi way back in August of 2005. Seems like a lifetime ago, doesn’t it?
The Beau Rivage will also play host to, well, a host of upcoming acts, including 4 Tops & The Temptations (Sept. 21), Joe Dee Messina (Sept. 28), Sammy Hagar (Oct. 19), Kenny Loggins (Nov. 1) and, the following day, one of my personal favorites, the incomparable Willie Nelson (Nov. 2).
Hard Rock Biloxi, meanwhile, has added a fresh influx of talent flocking to the Coast to perform at its live music venue, Hard Rock Live. Next up, on Aug. 23, is John Kay and Steppenwolf. Now let’s take a look at what’s on the Hard Rock horizon - Macy Gray and the Brand New Heavies (Aug. 31), Lynyrd Skynyrd (Sept. 6), ESPN2 Friday Night Fights (Sept. 7), The All-American Rejects (Sept. 13), Joss Stone (Sept. 16), Aaron Lewis of Staind (a solo acoustic performance, Sept. 19), and, last but most certainly not least, good ol’ Quiet Riot (Sept. 20).
And then there’s Hollywood Casino in Bay St. Louis. That establishment plays host, both on Aug. 21 and Sept. 1, to the venerable Neville Brothers, who are set to perform in the Hollywood Ballroom. Tickets are on sale now, and available at Tokens Gift Shop or by phone at 1-866-7-LUCKY-1.
For more information, or to purchase tickets to a Beau Rivage show, call the box office at 1-888-566-7469. To purchase tickets to a Hard Rock concert, log on to ticketmaster.com.
So mark your favorite shows on your calendar or your personal organizer, or, just tie a string around your finger. Or, just keep reading Marquee.
